Chemotherapy: Session 2/4

– November 2023 // Chemotherapy session 2/4 –

I still remember the surprise of how soon the day for my second session came. It was scheduled for 3 weeks after my first round.

Maybe I was miserable for almost 2 weeks after my first chemo that the weeks just blurred by. I worked for 2 weeks then went back into my week-long medical leave after my second chemo session.

I read that the symptoms for the second round could either be better or worse. I couldn’t sleep the night before because I worried too much. But I was more mentally prepared for this round.

And luck was on my side indeed. The side effects were much more tolerable. I still had a minor fever the first few days, still NO vomiting, my lower back hurt only a little now.

What stayed the same was the sleep deprivation for 4 to 5 days – dry mouth and constant peeing, no sense of taste, and heart palpitations. But nothing more serious than the last.

A little funny story was the doctor couldn’t recognize me when she was making her rounds because I was already bald and was wearing a pink hat with a face mask. I saw her pointing at me at the nurses’ station before coming to me LOL.

You’ve no idea how glad I was by the end of the week. My weight even stayed the same because my husband was force-feeding me in the past month. I know he was afraid that I’d end up skinny like the typical cancer patients that he’s seen.

2 out of 4 done.
