– October 2023 // Chemotherapy session 1/4 –
The day that I dreaded had finally arrived.
Exactly 15 days after the first chemo, my hair started to fall.
I read somewhere that 60% of chemo patients suffer from hair loss.
Let me make that 100%.
I was feeling hopeful about being the 40% in the beginning. How foolish.
Best believe that it’s going to happen. It’ll be easier for everybody.
I wasn’t even plucking my hair. A gentle comb through using my fingers and a fist full of hair would easily fall out. And another. Then another fist full.
After 3 days of shedding like a retriever dog, I finally came to terms with my hair loss. I told my husband to just shave me. I could no longer stand the sight of my hair all over my floor and bed.
Yes, I was even shedding while asleep.
The wig + cap combo that I had ordered from Amazon last week was finally of some use. The wig is neck-length, cost only $20 and is pretty decent. I still wear it to this day.
I had also purchased a few cheap wigs of different styles with just hair without the cap, but never learnt how to properly put it on. So they went to waste.
The hair all over my body started shedding as well.
At that point I could only hope to hang on to my eyebrows.
